Shindy Design

Yo! I'm Shindy Reehal AKA Shindy Design.

I like to create dark and macabre Horror, Scifi and Fantasy artwork. My main influences and inspirations range from Beksinski, M.C Escher, Gustave Dore to H.R Giger, Frank Frazetta, Bernie Wrightson and Simon Bisley. I also get a lot of my inspiration from heavy music. I've worked and continue to work extensively within the Hardcore, Death Metal, Alternative music scene as a Cover Artist and Merch/Promo Designer, as well as Illustrator for independent brands in The UK, US and Europe.

I'm self taught, and always drawing something almost everyday, I've done so for as long as I can remember. For those that are interested, I'll go a bit deeper into my History here - For most of my life and especially through a tumultuous upbringing in a poor part of London Suburbia, I've always had a spiritual bond to this form of art. It's been a positive constant through years of depression, drug addiction and existential crisis as a result of abuse and growing up in a poor and dysfunctional environment. After struggling through most of my teens and early 20s, I'd met my partner, silmontaneously finally had enough, left home and worked in endless dead end jobs in various industries, both me and my partner moved from town and town and all the while I was slowly building my name as an artist and cleaning myself up physically and mentally. Over those tough and arduous years, I eventually managed to do exactly that, slowly moved further out of the city and into the country side.

Fast forward to a couple years ago, I finally gave up all the dead end jobs to fully dedicate myself to my art. With even more hard work and devotion, I managed to turn my life around and now have the means to pour my all into creating highly detailed and macabre art that reflects me, my journey and inspirations in life. I feel eternally grateful to be able to make my life long obsession into any semblance of a career, with recognition, support and custom from some of the best humans and fellow artists in this competitive industry.

I hope this brief but revealing introduction gives a clear insight into who I am, how much I love this and why I do it.

Thank you for supporting my work!
